How Does the Process Work?
We are a prescription-based provider. This means we must have a prescription from a physician at the time of the evaluation appointment and before we can provide a device to a patient and bill insurance. Typically, a patient is referred to us by a physician or physical therapist to assess the patient for a device.
Once a practitioner has completed an evaluation and discussed treatment options with the child's parent/guardian(s), our front office staff will complete a courtesy verification of your insurance coverage and benefits. We want to ensure that your device(s) is covered and inform you of any deductible, co-insurance or co-payment amounts you may be responsible at the time of delivering the device(s). Please note: it is ultimately your responsibility to contact your insurance company regarding benefits to determine whether you will have any responsibility. If a prior authorization is required by insurance, our front staff will assist with the process and work with your physician and/or physical therapy office to ensure the correct codes are approved.
Once we receive the appropriate documentation need for insurance purposes from the referring provider, an approval from your insurance company, and receive your verbal acknowledgment to move forward, then the device is ordered.
We will contact you to schedule a fit and delivery appointment as soon as your device(s) is received at our facility. All devices, on average, will take 2-3 weeks to receive once ordered, except cranial remolding orthoses, which must be fit and delivered within 10 days from the day the child's head is scanned.
